Third grade is a very special year in many ways.
Students are making the transition from the primary school grades to the elementary and middle schools years. Many of the transitions take place in the area of reading. In third grade, students will begin reading novels instead of only a basal reader and will really enjoy presenting oral book reports. These reports are in areas of biography, science, mystery, social science, and fiction. In math, students learn multiplication have an opportunity to participate in the Third Grade Multiplication Graduation. They even go as far as to learn long division!
Science and social studies lessons are more in depth as students complete interesting units such as the human body, geology, and government. Third grade students become much more responsible for their behavior and learn how to work independently. It is going to be a very exciting year!
